INTRODUCTION:
|
Bio
Dr. Laura Lorenz has a Ph.D. in Social
Policy from The Heller School for Social Policy and
Management, Brandeis University. Her dissertation topic is lived
experience with brain injury, and her research involves one-on-one
photo-elicitation interviews with recent brain injury survivors and
participatory research with long-term survivors using the action research
method photovoice. Laura has been using visual research methods since 2000
with youth in the US and South Africa, and since 2005 with adult brain
injury survivors in Massachusetts. She specializes in qualitative research
and analysis and has extensive experience leading teams and seeing
projects through from start to finish. Before entering Heller, Laura
worked for 20 years in international development as a photojournalist,
writer, educator, and editor, and she has lived and worked in Africa,
Latin America, and India. She has a Master of Education in Instructional
Design and ten years’ experience developing continuing education materials
for managers of health programs and designing training curricula. Laura
facilitates photovoice facilitator workshops and has provided consulting
services to photovoice projects in mental health, youth leadership, and
community advocacy. Laura spearheads and supports the development of
technical assistance, training, business development, and dissemination
materials for US and international audiences. |
